New York is always a good idea. Especially when Duran Duran is playing a private concert and you were a “Duranee” as a teenager! It’s been 30 years since I hung out with the “wild boys” and not much has changed- Simon is just as cheeky as ever, and the band still has a magnetic stage presence that had us dancing for two hours. The concert at Terminal 5 was to launch their new album Paper Gods, but thank God they also played some oldie but goodie favorites like Notorius and The Reflex flex flex flex flex flex!
We stayed at the new luxuriously divine Baccarat Hotel and it was an absolute gem! From the stunning entrance to incredibly attentive staff, it is a standout in NYC. Not to mention the totally cool bar and super comfy beds.
We planned this weekend away shortly after getting engaged, so it made perfect sense to make an appointment at Carol Hannah’s Flagship studio for wedding attire. Six years ago I was on Project Runway as a guest model in an episode where the designers were asked to re-do wedding dresses of now divorced women. Carol Hannah was my designer and created an amazing piece from about 100 yards of tulle that I can’t believe I once walked down the aisle in! Now, Carol Hannah is creating a custom reception wedding gown for me to wear- and dance the night away in. I also ordered a headpiece and a custom belt for my rehearsal dinner gown, and almost stole the sample shoes lol!
Other highlights included a tuk-tuk ride through Central Park, lunch at Momofuku, cookies from Milk, dinner at Babbo, cocktails at The Waverly Inn, and a Manhattan at Tavern on The Green before heading to the airport, of course!
